Nicole Agu is an international student from Nigeria attending the City University of New York’s College of Staten Island to become a Certified Public Accountant/Entrepreneur. She chose to pursue her college education abroad because she believed that it could create better opportunities for her and her family. Agu is an active student leader in her college community as she utilizes her network to create a difference in her college community. She is a member of the Sigma Beta Delta Society, the Phi Beta Delta Society, and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and also currently serves as a Student Government Senator and University Student Senate (USS) Delegate on her local campus. She proudly represents every international student in CUNY as the USS Vice-Chair for international student Affairs. Furthermore, she has been able to impact her fellow students’ lives via mentorship and tutoring. She worked as an intern for the New York State Small Business Development Center as a service corps intern for one year. Agu also worked for the Center for Global Engagement at CSI as an accounting assistant and the American International Group as a tax intern. She has also participated in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, where she assisted low- and middle-income taxpayers with preparing their tax returns. Ms. Agu is determined to pursue her future MBA degree, obtain her CPA License, and secure a strong career opportunity that will elevate her family’s financial struggles.
