Higher Learning Advocates Applauds the Administration’s Commitment to Today’s Students

Today’s students can not succeed in school if they are hungry, homeless, or lack access to critical supports like child care and reliable transportation. Today, the Biden Harris Administration made a historic commitment to today’s students by enabling colleges and universities to use pandemic recovery funds to meet students’ critical needs. They then go further by providing crucial new funding dedicated to further meeting these needs and ensuring that students can use the information they have already given the government to demonstrate eligibility for critical services.

“We can not expect today’s students to succeed if their basic needs are not met. Today’s commitment by the Biden Harris Administration to meeting students’ needs is historic and demonstrates that when policymakers put students at the center, significant and essential change can be made.

Higher Learning Advocates and the Today’s Students Coalition thanks President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Secretary Cardona for their unprecedented investment in today’s students’ basic needs. We look forward to working with the Administration, colleges and universities, and other key stakeholders to support students inside and outside of the classroom.”
